Where to Watch Every 'Final Destination' Movie — Including the Newest Addition to the Franchise, 'Bloodlines' (2025)

NEED TO KNOW

  • Final Destination Bloodlines hit theaters on May 16
  • The film is the sixth movie in the Final Destination franchise
  • Here's how to stream all six movies — plus, how to watch them in chronological order

The Final Destination franchise is back for more kills and thrills.

With the release of Final Destination Bloodlines on May 16, the horror franchise now has six entries. It also marks the first new Final Destination film in 14 years, with the previous movie being Final Destination 5 in 2011.

In the film series, a group of people unexpectedly survive an encounter they weren’t supposed to live through. Determined to keep everything in equilibrium, Death itself does everything it can to kill them, including roller coaster derailments, house fires, tanning bed disasters, bridge collapses and more.

Even wilder, Final Destination is actually inspired by a true story. Creator Jeffrey Reddick originally wrote the script as an episode for The X-Files after reading about a woman whose mother told her to switch flights, since she had a premonition that her plane was going to crash. The daughter did what her mom said, and shockingly, the plane she would have been on did indeed crash.

“When I read the article, it just went into my head: what if she 'cheated' death, and what would that look like if death decided to come after her?” Reddick told Variety in 2025.

Final Destination

The first movie starts off with a bang — literally — that helped launch Final Destination into a massive franchise.

At the start of the film, a group of high schoolers are boarding Volée Airlines Flight 180 from New York to Paris. Shortly before takeoff, a student named Alex (Devon Sawa) has a premonition that the plane will explode. After freaking out and starting a fight, he’s escorted off the plane along with a group of other students. As they sit in the airport, they watch as Flight 180 explodes during takeoff, killing everyone on board.

Death then seeks vengeance, since none of the students were supposed to survive the crash. One by one, they’re killed in a variety of horrific disasters. The film also stars Seann William Scott, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith and Tony Todd, who plays the recurring funeral home owner William John Bludworth.

Picking up a year after the first movie, Final Destination 2 follows Kimberly Corman (A.J. Cook), who, while driving on the highway with her friends, suddenly has a premonition of a massive pile-up killing her and dozens of others.

Terrified, she stops the car and watches the crash happen without her in it. But her actions disrupt her life and the lives of a group of others who should have died that day, so Death once again comes for the survivors.

The film brings back Larter, whose character survived the first film, and Todd also reprises his role.

Set five years after the events of the first film, Final Destination 3 is largely unconnected to the previous films, though it does make brief references to earlier events.

The movie starts off with a group of high schoolers who are about to board a roller coaster. But after Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has a premonition of the ride falling apart, she stops her friends from getting on. Naturally, the roller coaster falls apart, killing everyone, and Death now comes for the survivors.

Despite being a mostly standalone sequel, Final Destination 3 became a hit — at the time, it was the highest-grossing entry in the franchise, earning over $118 million, per Box Office Mojo.

Joining Winstead in the cast were Ryan Merriman, Cory Monteith and Alexz Johnson. Though Todd doesn't return on-screen, he does return to voice the theme park's haunted devil statue.

Originally intended to be the final entry in the franchise, The Final Destination starts out at a NASCAR race that goes horribly wrong when a fiery crash causes the grandstands to collapse, killing dozens of people.

But of course, a group is saved after Nick (Bobby Campo) has a vision of the disaster. The Final Destination is unique because Nick has numerous premonitions throughout the movie, instead of just one.

The movie received mostly negative reviews, but is still the highest-earning Final Destination film, nabbing $186 million at the worldwide box office, per Box Office Mojo.

At the start, Final Destination 5 seems like just another sequel in the franchise. The movie begins with a massive bridge collapse, but thanks to a premonition from Sam (Nicholas D’Agosto), a group of people survive the accident, only for Death to hunt them down. But what really makes this movie stand out is its shocking finale.

After the main action of the film is over, Sam and his girlfriend board a plane, which is revealed to be Volée Airlines Flight 180 from the first movie. Suddenly, it becomes clear that Final Destination 5 has been a prequel all along, and Sam dies in the plane crash from the opening scene of the first movie. The film also sees Todd reprise his role for the first time since Final Destination 2.

Final Destination Bloodlines serves as both a prequel and sequel. The film begins in the 1960s at a swanky new observation tower and restaurant called The Skyview. While on a date with her boyfriend, Iris (Brec Bassinger) has a premonition of the tower crumbling, killing everyone inside. Thanks to her vision, she manages to save everyone.

The film then cuts to the present day, where Death starts coming for Iris’ children and grandchildren. It’s then revealed that the Skyview disaster has been the catalyst for the entire franchise, and everyone who has died in the previous films were either survivors of the incident or their descendants. Bloodlines also served as Todd’s final film before his 2024 death.
