The 45 best rooftop spots in Prague (2025)

The 63.5-meter-high Petrin Lookout Tower (Petrinska rozhledna) offers panoramic views of Prague over the city skyline and the surrounding area, making it a popular tourist destination. It was built in 1891 from disused railway tracks and is one of Prague's oldest landmarks.

Prague from this view is more beautiful that I could imagine. The views are amazing, worth to go up.The elevator is out of service, so you have to go on your own, by stairs.I tried twice to go there and in the weekend it was full of people, so I came back on working day and enjoyed everything.Recommended!

A tad bit over rated but beautiful nonetheless. Beautiful grounds and trees surround the tower. After hiking up steep hills to see it, I was grateful for the “I Love You” cafe east of the tower. Homemade pies and cakes with a nice glass of lemonade to enjoy. The whole area is a great place to walk around exploring or just sitting under a tree resting, enjoying the view. Oh yes, there’s a Tram you can take up and down the mountain if you don’t want to hike all the way up.

Lisa R — Google review

You can take stairs easily so don’t waste money in buying elevator option. Views are good but don’t keep very high expectations. Tower is shaking slightly and you can feel this. Good experience to see the city view from the top

Must visit place, get public train from uzjed and come to petrin, its cool. You can use your same city transport ticket for this train also. The train from Uzjed is a rop-pull train that goes up the hill where petrin tower is there. This route is super.

A beautiful walk up the hill (or you can take the historic lift, also a super experience). Go up the observatory (it's easy, there are lifts), the views on the old city centre of Prague are definitely worth it. From there it's a short (15 min), easy walk to Strahov Monastery. The library is, not yo be missed. The walk back to town is scenic, down hill and ever so beautiful, esp. just before sunset. You'll need at least half a day. A five star experience!

What a view!We had a great time at the Petřín tower. The views were pretty and you could see all around. We were pleased that there were steps up and separate steps down (didn’t bump in to anyone on the way up or down!). It wasn’t too bad a climb up the tower itself to two viewing platforms, one half way up which was open air, and one at the top which was a balcony with windows. My friend felt a little ill as they could feel the tower sway in the wind, and we both had sore legs as we had walked all the way up the hill (we later discovered that there had been a funicular railway we could have used instead… oops!)We bought tickets online when we got there which included queue jump. These cost a small amount more (something like 50p extra) but we were happy to pay not to join the long queue. It wasn’t clear that these queue jump tickets were available when we got there but would recommend it.Even on a fairly cloudy day like when we went, the views were incredible.Top tip: Watch out for the ladybirds on the steps… there were lots of them!

Cameron H — Google review

I recommend to buy a ticket online. It's fast and uncomplicated and also you have the opportunity to add a visit in the house of mirrors for more favorable. You can choose between an elevator and maybe about 300 steps, but I recommend to walk because of the sight. There are two reversed stairs, so you don't have problems with people walking downstairs. In April the elevator was broken, but if you want to use it you will have to pay little more. The view is stunning.

Sawa N — Google review

Amazing views from the Tower. The price is a fair price, I didn't have to queue long - around 3 minutes. I paid to go up on the lift, which was well worth it, and then walked back down and then walked down the hill to Charles Bridge (which my legs regretted the next day)I definitely recommend visiting especially on a clear day. You can see the whole of Prague

TJ — Google review

Nice view spot of the City, go up, by foot even better. Not too crowded. We were in great day, and it took about 30 min only tower. Entire trip, go up and down with Funicular, about 2hr we spend, there is really nice park there, to seat relaxe. Good air in hot day.

Yariv L — Google review

there are a lot of people on the tower but the view is very good. there are 299 stairs so I wouldn't walk up there because there is an elevator. also if your scared of hights, you should take the elevator because when your almost at the top, the walls of the stairs disappear.

Z C — Google review

Great views of Prague and set in a lovely park that we spent a couple of hours exploring, including going on the virnicular. Be prepared to walk up quite a lot of steps! It's worth it when you get to the top though and there are lots of little stopping places on the way up down. Worth a look on a reasonably clear day.

Laura B — Google review

The walk to the tower was pleasant. I walked up the tower, rather than taking the lift. There are seats at regular intervals, if you need a breather. The views were absolutely fantastic. It was well worth the visit.

Carol N — Google review

It's definitely a must. Spectacular views 360 degrees. Take the stairs, it's up there but you'll feel good about it. The way down is way easier than the way up. On a clear day, you can see everything for miles.. Great for photography. May not be okay if you have a fear of heights or being high up in a structure.

Kyle — Google review

A fantastic place to visit! The Petřín-tower offers breathtaking views of Prague. The tower itself is a charming mini version of the Eiffel Tower, and the climb is well worth the effort. The friendly atmosphere and the stunning vistas make it a must-see attraction. Whether you take the stairs or the lift, the panoramic views of the city are simply spectacular. The view gives you the feeling that you have the entire city in your hands, even if just for a moment. In every aspect, 5 stars!

We Had a fantastic Experience. We got there at 10am. There was no queue. We bought tickets when we got there. The number 76 bus will leave you very near the tower about 10 minute walk. Don't try to walk it there is a sharp incline and about 300 steps to walk I found out the hard way. We got the bus back down. But overall a great experience. Well worth a visit put it on the bucket list.

Tina W — Google review

One of the most beautiful scenic points! It definitely worth climbing. During my visit, the elevator was not functional. Attention, there is an extra fee for it, apart from the ticket price. There are 299 steps to climb 😁 The area has several places where you can get refreshments from. I recommend visiting.

Milin P — Google review

While I visited the funicular was closed but this tower can be also reached by bus (keep in mind you will have to walk some 15 minutes before reaching the tower). The prices are reasonable. If you want to use the elevator you will have to pay an extra fee. It might get quite crowded at times. The view is amazing though. One of my trip's highlights!

Alejandro M — Google review

Historical landmark, with 360 view of Prague. Not crowded, even though it was a weekend. It was the long queue for the cable car, so we took a walk instead - it’s approximately 10-15 mins walk, up the hill, which can be challenging for someone. Other option is to walk to the middle station of the cable car (6-7 mins uphill) and from there to take cable car.

????? ? — Google review

Smaller than it appears a little, still very nice attraction. 220 czk per person to get on top of it. You can add 150 czk and use the elevator, but all the fun is to use the stairs. The view from the top is great 😃 recommend

Nariman L — Google review

Inspired by the Eiffel Tower, this steel construction gives great views of PragueThe tower is available to enter for a fee. There is a lift to the top that can be accessed for an additional fee. The tower stays open until 2100 at night and gives great views of the city in night and day. For anyone who enjoys heights, or views, or 19th century engineering, this is a great place to visit.

David D — Google review

More interesting Czech architecture. Nice to be out of town and getting some fresh air, walking up the hill. Coffee shop at the top.Can climb the Tower if you like heights

Matt B — Google review

A very beautiful hike to the top. There is a museum also on the top of the hill. A ticket is to climb the tower. There is a gift shop at the ticket counter. There are two platforms, one in the middle and other glass covered at the top. Some cafe also available near the tower

Chahat J — Google review

Petřín tower is one of the most beautiful places in Prague as you can see the entire city line. Literally it’s a Czech-Mate moment when you go at the top.So you need to get down at the nearest tram station which could also be from the Prague castle’s side and then you need to go at the top all the way by walking up the elevated inclined walk. That’s around 2 kilometres but the walk is so beautiful that it grows on you every-time you look around. You will see people chilling, relaxing and having the time of their lives by going on dates, taking light walks and enjoying their family time in the gardens surrounding the tower. Also, one pro tip is not to order the hot chocolate from a kiosk bottom of the Petřín tower as it is a complete waste altogether.

Shalabh A — Google review

A long walk up a wooden spiral staircase, but if you've got the stamina and head for heights the view is super. Platform half way up if you haven't. If you have a Litactzca travel pass get a discount.

Andrew B — Google review

Great watchtower with a breathtaking view of Prague. The tower was modeled after the Eifel tower, and it shows. The tower offers an elevator, student discount tickets, a nice green area with drinks around, and the best view of all Prague highlights.

Joey R — Google review

We took the funicular to reach there. On a sunny day, it’s really worth visiting. Nice place to view entire city. Long queues for lift to go up as only 3 people can go at a time. Alternatively you can take the stairs which is time taking & need more energy but worth trying as it’s a lovely view outside. It’s not recommended to take stairs if you’re not strong to walk in the hills. There was queue at the ticket counter too. While coming back to the city, you can walk or take the funicular once again. You can also enjoy restaurant and lovely park at the bottom of the tower to rest and relax.

Soumya S — Google review

The location offers stunning views and a peaceful garden. I recommend taking the cable car to reach the top. If you have a valid Prague public transport ticket (including one-day or 72-hour passes), it can be used for the cable car as well. Be careful not to validate your ticket again if it has already been stamped, as double stamping will invalidate it, potentially leading to a fine of up to 100 euros if inspected.

Usman K — Google review

Overall the tower is average, my suggestion to go there only when you have nothing else to do in Prague. There is a ticket to go at the top, but we didn’t go as you can have the same view from the castle. We went in the afternoon, you would need to take a bus till top and then walk for 5 to 10 mins. There is a big garden which is quite pretty and relaxing. However, to go only for that is not a worth as you have several other garden which are closer to old town area. If you have a dog then it makes sense to go here.🚨Funicular is not working, it will be operational in 2026.

Deepak J — Google review

Amazing views of Prague City. Good place to take pictures and videos of surrounding areas. A little windy and chilly, I suggest bringing a hat and gloves. Cost extra to take elevator to the top. If not, it's a lot of walking and a lot of steps. Nice little cosy cafe at the bottom. Wonderful pastries and cakes. Plus amazing hot chocolate.

Sani K — Google review

Definitely the high point of Prague (literally). There's two options to go up in the lift or the stairs. The stairs has various seats to rest on in case you need a breath or to take in the breathtaking views. Via the stairs you get two areas. A middle platform and the top. It can become quite crowded at the main area to look out across the city but worth waiting and just seeing the views. Really worth it and a bit of exercise too! Thou from middle platform to top there are barely any seats on that way up or down. So be prepared.

The Petrin observation tower is similar to the Eiffel Tower and anyone in Prague should definitely take a look at it. We took the elevator up and had a beautiful view over Prague. Beautiful sunshine and great photos. We then went down on foot and that was also doable. 😊You can walk to the tower through a park or use the suspension railway like we did.

Vicki M — Google review

Prague's highest vantage point. You can either hike up to the top through the park or take the fernicular. The 24-72 hr tickets work on the fernicular as well. Then it's a short walk to the tower where you can buy tickets at the bottom to either climb up the stairs or pay additional to use the lift. The lift is tiny, so the lines are long for it. But the views from the top are worthy

Ranajit B — Google review

The view from the top is very nice. They charge fees for the elevator but you can also take the stairs. They may seem daunting at first but really aren't that bad to climb. They even have small benches along the way to take a break.I do recommend going when it's not that crowded.

Lara S — Google review

We did not go to the top as there is no elevator. Had the best mulled wine at I Love You. The churches are nice and the walk was welcomed. We rode the funnicular which was fun and interesting. Recommend the Lookouts as well. Would visit again.

Jennifer K — Google review

This is one of the best viewpoints of Prague! Tickets were reasonably priced, but be prepared to go up all the stairs. There are small rest areas along to way to sit if needed. Some windows at the top opened for better photos. I highly recommend!

Stephanie Y — Google review

We took the funicular up to the tower. It has a nice view of the city but to be honest I enjoyed the view more from the castle which is for free. We bought the combined ticket which enabled us to enter the mirror maze as well. I think it is also pricey. We walked to the castle from the tower and stopped by the monastery and its brewery on the way which was quite nice.

Lütfü C — Google review

Beautiful tower. The view from the top is good and you can buy tickets to climb the stairs, go with an elevator or a combined ticket with the mirror museum. We took the combined ticket and enjoyed everything. recommended

Joni G — Google review

Beautiful view up there. They also offer to get on the top by lift which takes about 1 min and costs around 5-6 euro per person. Otherwise you have to go by stairs and it's just about 300 of them. I recommend the place, it offers a beautiful view of Prague and there is a park around so it was a beautiful quiet morning spent there

Barbora H — Google review

Resemblance with the Eiffel tower cannot be unnoticed. The whole structure is a bit shaky on the top, but the view compensates for that. I wouldn't let that many people on top at the same time, you will be pushed to walk around, and that takes away the nice experience to look at the view.

Petřín Tower: A Fairytale Viewpoint in PraguePrague's Petřín Tower is a miniature Eiffel Tower offering panoramic city views and a charming funicular ride to the top. Here's a closer look at this iconic landmark:Enchanting Design: Built in 1891, the tower's wrought-iron latticework resembles its Parisian cousin on a smaller scale (63.5 meters).Panoramic Views: Take in breathtaking 360-degree vistas of Prague from the observation deck. On a clear day, you might even spot Sněžka, the Czech Republic's highest peak!Funicular Fun: Ascend Petřín Hill in style aboard the funicular railway. This short, funicular ride is a delightful add-on, especially for families with young children.Things to Consider:* Ticket Purchase: Be prepared to purchase tickets for both the tower entrance and the funicular ride (if you choose to take it).* Crowds: The tower can get crowded, especially during peak season. Consider going early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the biggest crowds.* Limited Mobility: An elevator is available for those who cannot climb the stairs. (This was out of order when we visited).Overall:Petřín Tower is a must-visit for anyone seeking picturesque views and a touch of Parisian charm in Prague. While the climb might be a bit tiring, the rewarding panorama and the funicular ride make it worthwhile.

It’s one of the hidden gem in Prague that one must try out. We went at night time by climbing up the hill. It was dark and fun at the same time. The view from the tower to Prague town is beautiful. A widespread city with yellow lights makes you feel good.

Mohamed Y — Google review

We loved our visit to Petrin Tower. The walk from the bottom ( town) to the tower is not for the faint hearted and requires some level of fitness as it's basically uphill and steps for a good 20/30 minutes. The view from the top is totally worth it.We also went to the mirror maze which is very funny and definitely worth a visit.

Isabelle D — Google review

This was a very good place to visit and we would certainly recommend it. We walked over from the Castle and past the Abbey but can also walk up through the gardens or catch the funicular railway from the lesser townOnce there we purchased entry tickets on the gate. There were a number of options including combined tickets with mirror maze and a supplement to ride the lift. Sadly that option was unavailable to us otherwise 5 stars would be in order. The mini eiffel tower is third scale and has the very much appreciated benefit of dedicated up and down stair routes so no awkward clashes and body contortions needed. There are also little seats every now and then for those of us who are less fit or more advanced in years. Or both.Views are spectacular, even from the lower observation deck should the knees not permit further climbing.Good fun, great views and lovely refreshments at the end from the tiny little cafe servery.

Paul N — Google review

Nice little Eiffel on top of Petri's hill. Beautiful scenery. Funny, the tower was swinging at the very top. On June 23, 2024, the elevator was not operational.

Very nice view over the entire city. Cheap entry. You can buy tickets to the tower online. The lift ride must be purchased separately at the counter. The lift is very small and narrow, not for people with claustrophobia.

Petrin Tower is a must-visit attraction in Prague! This iconic tower offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city from its observation decks, which are simply stunning. The tower's unique design and impressive height (at 60 meters, it's nearly a quarter of the height of the Eiffel Tower, its inspiration) make it a standout landmark in the city.We enjoyed a leisurely walk up the hill to reach the tower, taking in the beautiful gardens and scenic views along the way. The elevator ride to the top was quick and easy, and the friendly staff provided helpful information about the tower's history and significance. The views from the top are simply spectacular, with the entire city spread out before you. We spent a good hour taking it all in, snapping photos, and enjoying the scenery. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Petrin Tower during your time in Prague - it's a truly unforgettable experience!

Piklu M — Google review

Unreal views from the top.Arrived just before 9am on a Saturday and there was next to no queue.Went up via the stairs which was somewhat tiring but worth it for the views. There are 2 levels. One midway and the second at the top. Both levels provide amazing views but the top level is obviously better.

Anil B — Google review

Best 360° view over Prague, separate staircases for people coming down from the ones coming up, it is a bit of a climb but there are benches for resting at each level and there is an elevator as well. Probably not the best thing for the ones afraid of heights but if you will find the courage to climb you'll not regret it.

Antoniu G — Google review

Just a tower giving you some good views of Prague, at the price of 220kc it doesn't worth in my opinion. There is a cafe (expensive)WcWalking in the garden though, until the palace is a wonderful path

Thomas E — Google review

Amazing experience especially on a sunny day! Basic adult entrance fee is cheap but involves climbing the 300 steps, there is a 150 lift charge for those who would like to use it. Well worth the panoramic view!

Tony C — Google review

The tower itself reminds me a bit of Eiffel Tower. You can reach the top by the lift (costs extra) or by steps (regular ticket price) The views from above are spectacular, panoramic view for the whole city. And if you’re already there don’t miss the beer brewery in the monastery it’s really close.

Ownwayphotography C — Google review

A steep climb up the cobbled stairs (there is a funicular railway as well), through beautiful, green park away from the hustle and bustle of Prague City centre. Spectacular views across Prague. There are stairs to the top. There is a lift for an extra €6 which I thought was a bit cheeky. There is a small cafe/bar for refreshments. Definitely worth the visit.
