Dr. Sam Griffith excels in her new leadership role as chief of surgery after her renowned boss falls into a coma. When her former boss wakes up months later demanding to resume his duties, Sam is tasked with supervising the egotistical surgeon who never acknowledged her stellar talent. Matters are complicated further by the fact that the caustic and arrogant Dr. Rob "Griff" Griffith also happens to be her father. As Griff defies Sam's authority and challenges her medical expertise, the big question becomes whether this father and daughter will ever be able to mend their own relationship as expertly as they heal the hearts of their patients.

Good Sam: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Caroline Framke Variety Bush and Isaacs prove well-matched for the task of portraying this particularly thorny, complex relationship. Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Good Sam: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) John Anderson Wall Street Journal The series has a significant asset in Ms. Bush... she is charming but also makes Sam convincingly competitive Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Good Sam: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Daniel Fienberg Hollywood Reporter I'm as game as the next fan for a new House. This just isn't there yet. Jan 5, 2022 Full Review Good Sam: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Monique Jones Common Sense Media Good Sam riffs on what CBS is known for -- comforting problem-of-the-week dramas -- and adds a new level of spice and interest to the proceedings. Rated: 4/5 Mar 3, 2022 Full Review Good Sam: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Shelby Elpers Tell-Tale TV Let's take a moment to celebrate Bush's return to TV in a leading role. Sam is perfect for her, and Bush's passion for this project is palpable through the TV. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 7, 2022 Full Review Good Sam: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Joel Keller Decider Mainly because Sophia Bush and Jason Isaacs are compelling to watch - individually and together - Good Sam rises slightly above the run-of-the-mill network medical procedural. But the relationships and characters will have to evolve to keep us tuning in. Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Chama C Disgusting views of hom*osexuals kissing. No one ever needs to see that. No one. Cheap photography.Extremely predictable. This can cancel anytime. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/22 Full Review Audience Member Initially, the show was slow to reach a direction. There were a lot of characters that seemed to have minor roles and as the season continued, the characters rolls became more obvious and the series started to bloom. The underlying tension between many of the different characters started to play out on-screen and the show sprung to life. It was about the 6tg or 7th episode that suddenly, I wanted to watch the series each week.Unfortunately, it isn't in the best of time slots, so I am sure it's audience is reduced. My suggestion: give it a solid watch and before long you too will be hooked.I do hope they renew it as now I am wondering what will happen to certain characters. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I honestly don't understand. You're telling me that Sophia Bush's character, who seems like an adult Pollyanna, is running the cardiac wing of an important hospital? And that her dad is/was the top cardiac surgeon? And that her mom is the chief medical officer? And that her dad treats her like absolute 100% sh**? And this is all supposed to be a…what, comedy? Drama? Medical soap? WHAT IS THIS?? I have so many questions. How did she wind up working with her father when he clearly does not give one iota about her? Why is her mom the chief medical officer at the same hospital where her ex-husband and daughter work? Why are Sophia Bush and all the residents looking and acting like they're early-20s college students? Where are the actual adults? And again, why is her father such a complete d*** and yet she still wound up working alongside him? Any real parent would be bursting with pride at their kid's accomplishments. And here's this dude griping about a dang whiteboard. Because his "daughter" is absolutely no one of any importance whatsoever to him. There's NOTHING believable about this show and it frankly upsets me in the name of fathers everywhere. My dad died a year ago and I'm glad he didn't see this show because he would have been throwing his tv out the window to watch this "father's" treatment of his "daughter." Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Unbelievable, Ridiculous, and Unwatchable!I have attempted to watch this show several times, beginning with the pilot. I can't stress how really unwatchable this show is, and I have wanted to watch it! Where to start?1) The basic premise is a fantasy and unbelievable. Surely the main protagonists presented to us would be the absolute worse choices for running any aspect of a hospital. They spend most of their time talking rather than doing any job. All hospital staffers must laugh themselves silly when looking at the plots for even five minutes. Even Scrubs was more realistic... OMG!2) Casting for this show is atrocious, starting with Sophia Bush. I love to watch Sophia Bush because she is pretty and makes me happy. And yet I cringe when she gives orders or directions in that tiny, mousey voice, which I can barely hear sometimes. Hospitals are much louder than you might think, especially in certain areas. No one with that whisper voice would ever be effective in that environment and probably not taken seriously as a doctor. I've never known a doctor with a voice like that, have you?3) The other actors on the show range from hack actors to unlikeable and unrealistic staff. Jacob Isaacs comes off as a bad doctor and a worse father. You can't compare the acting here with any really good hospital drama.4) Is this a drama? It's more like a comedy and should have written that way. I'm laughing at it now, and I'm not supposed to be doing that. Try imagining a lame CBS laugh track while watching it and you'll see what I mean. The characters, the writing, and the acting all borders on comedy. Why not give in and go full-on laugh fest. At least I might be able to watch it then.In the grand scheme of scheduling it's probably going to be renewed because it appeals to a non-discriminating audience who either love soap operas or otherwise have limited choices on Wednesday night. That said, I really, really hope this show doesn't survive even one more season. But it probably will if only because several other CBS shows are worse. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I think people were to quick to judge off of two episodes. I'm 5 In and I absolutely love it I hope it gets renewed first time I found a show I like that hasn't been canceled yet but probably will be because of the haters Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Good Sam is painfully bad. Did the producers not even bother to talk with real surgeons? So much of the premise of the show is implausible. And Sophia Bush is not even a little believable. Time to put this show out of its misery. STAT. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
